Dog Sign Language Seminar Coming Tuesday
Responsible pet ownership seminar being held Tuesday night at the Ridgewood Public Library.

A free seminar from the newly-minted Responsible Pet Ownership Committee will teach village residents who to read dog body language.
The seminar, presented by dog trainer Kathy Santo, will be held at the Ridgewood Public Library from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18.
There will be videos and live demonstrations. According to a news release on the village website, the committee says "misinterpreted cues can lead to a dog becoming stressed or overly excited, which often leads to a dog who feels he has no choice but to bite."

Canine and human volunteers "will demonstrate how to use your own body language to create a non–threatening interaction with a dog you’re meeting for the first time," according to the news release.
