Ridgewood Cell Tower Application Killed
Attorney for property owner FPR Property says they won't be pursuing a large cell tower at the Ridgewood/Ho-Ho-Kus border.

Plans to construct a 125-foot-tall cell tower at the corner of First Street and Barnett Place have officially been cannned, according to the property owner's attorney.
T-Mobile in 2011 applied to the zoning board to build a cell tower at the Ho-Ho-Kus border, claiming it was necessary to increase voice and data coverage in its service territory. The application has not moved forward in any meaningful way in two years.
The land owner's attorney, Jay Joseph Friedrich, told zoning board secretary Tony Merlino that FPR Property's lease with T-Mobile has expired. Neither FPR nor the zoning board has been able to reach T-Mobile, Friedrich wrote in a letter Monday.

"Therefore, this is to advise that the applicant, being FPR Property, shall not proceed for its request for a use variance for the construction of a cell tower."
Residents of the neighborhood strongly opposed the proposal.
