Ridgewood Cop Charged With Attempted Sex Assault Freed: Report

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A Ridgewood cop arrested for allegedly trying to meet up with someone he thought was a 15-year-old girl has been released from jail, according to a report.
Peter Tuchol, of Waldwick, is prohibited from using dating apps and having unsupervised interactions with kid until his case is resolved in court, NorthJersey.com reported.
Tuchol was among 16 people arrested in a dating app sting run by the Bergen County prosecutor's Cyber Crimes Unit, according to the report.

Authorities said Tuchol tried several times to engage in a sexual encounter with someone he believed with a 15-year-old girl. He even went as so far to offer to send an Uber to pick the person up, according to the report.
Tuchol is suspended from his job as a police officer, according to the report.

Members of the Cyber Crimes Unit spoke with Tuchol online beginning last week. Tuchol thought he was speaking with a 15-year-old girl and arranged to meet "her" for sex, acting Prosecutor Dennis Calo previously said.

On Monday, detectives executed a search warrant at Tuchol Jr.'s home and found controlled dangerous substances, Calo said.
Tuchol is an officer with the department and a member of the patrol unit, the department's website shows.
Capt. William Amoruso said the department is working closely with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office regarding Tuchol.
Tuchol was sworn in as a Ridgewood police officer in 2016, according to a post on the department's Facebook page. He received a Lifesaving Award from the department in May 2018 for saving the life of someone who was choking.
