Ridgewood Law Firm Donates 2,000 Backpacks to Paterson Students

Two thousand Paterson students will be receiving new backpacks courtesy of a donation from Ridgewood-based law firm Seigel Capozzi.

The personal injury and medical malpractice firm distributed 300 of the new bags to students at P.S. 13 last Friday, with more planned through the firm's charity fund, which in the years since its establishment has also purchased a van and computer room for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hackensack and Paterson, respectively.

To partner Jonas Siegel, the backpacks are more than a place to keep school books.

"We know that there are thousands of children just a few miles away from where we live and work that may not have had the same opportunities we had," he said.

"Perhaps a new backpack could spark a spirit and positive attitude towards education that could overcome the socio-economic obstacles that many of these kids face on a regular day."
