The games were "Jeopardy's!" first-ever team championship. Six, three-person teams went head to head against one another from Feb. 20 until Tuesday's match, the second match of a two-day final. Each of the nine participants played in the final match competed in one round of each game: Jeopardy!, Double Jeopardy!, or Final Jeopardy!. The teams' two-day money winnings were added together to determine the champion.

Madden won $432,400 over a 19-game winning streak on "Jeopardy!' in 2005, the third longest winning streak in the show's history.
