Ridgewood PD Makes 2 DWI Arrests Hours Apart

The arrests come just after a Wyckoff Police Chief warned of excessive drinking after responding to 5 alcohol-related incidents in 3 days.

The Ridgewood Police Department made two DWI arrests hours apart on the same day.

The first incident came at 11 a.m. on Jan. 9 when Ridgewood police “responded to a possible intoxicated driver on Goffle Road” and determined that Viquas Liaquat, 34, of Fair Lawn, was under the influence of alcohol, Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward said. Liaquat was arrested and charged with DWI and released pending an appearance in Ridgewood Municipal Court.

The next arrest came at 4:40 p.m. when Ridgewood police ”responded to Lincoln Avenue to assist [a] Glen Rock officer ... with a motor vehicle stop.” Police determined Jose Mena-Vasquez, 60, of Rutherford, was intoxicated and arrested and charged with DWI. Mena-Vasquez was released pending an appearance in Ridgewood Municipal Court.
