Ridgewood Saves Thousands with Sustainable Energy Program

Over $75,000 in electricity savings realized with solar program.

The Village of Ridgewood has saved more than $75,000 over the last two years due to its various energy efficiency plans, according to a report in The Ridgewood News.

"Solar panels at the main Firehouse, the EMS Building, and at the Water Pollution Control Facility have been activated and are producing electricity for the Village to use," the village wrote on its website.

Ridgewood has saved almost $76,000 due to its initiatives, the paper repoted, citing the NJ Sustainable Energy Joint Meeting.

Glen Rock has brought in over $21,000 for its initiatives. Mahwah has the highest level of savings at more than $160,000.

Ridgewood is currently installing solar panels at Village Hall and will be converting waste into energy at its Water Pollution Control plant in a public-private venture.
