Ridgewood Schools Honoring Vets on Memorial Day
Performance to be held May 23 at Ben Franklin Middle School

The following was sent by the Ridgewood Public Schools.
Ridgewood’s Benjamin Franklin Middle School (BFMS) has announced its First Annual Memorial Day Remembrance, honoring those men and women who valiantly gave their lives in service to their country.
The BFMS Memorial Day Remembrance will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23 on the middle school’s track, or in the case of rain, in the auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. The brief ceremony will feature musicians and local speakers, including school officials and representatives from the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. The observance will take place against a backdrop of luminaries that will be lit in memory of fallen soldiers.

BFMS students are selling the luminaries, which can be decorated with the name of an honored veteran. Individuals may purchase bags for $2 each. Corporate sponsors are also being sought at the fee of $10 per bag. The proceeds from this event will be donated to the Wounded Warriors Association, an organization that assists injured soldiers returning from war.
It is the strong hope and desire of the BFMS community to remember all of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to the country, as well as aiding those who continue to put themselves in harm’s way.
