Ridgewood resident Rebecca Butler was named a scholar athlete by the Essex County Athletic Director's Association. The Newark Academy senior was honored Tuesday night. Butler, who transferred from RHS to The Newark Academy in Livingston for her junior and senior years, is a two-sport athlete. She's notched 126 saves over two years as a goalie in soccer. She's also lit up the competition in softball, pacing the team in home runs, RBIs and batting average. Butler will play softball for Hamilton College in the fall.
