Stalking, Stolen Street Signs, Bank Fraud: Ridgewood PD Blotter
Ridgewood police responded to a number of incidents over the past week, including stalking, reports of stolen street signs and fraud.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ - Ridgewood police responded to a number of incidents over the past week, including stalking, reports of stolen street signs, harassment and bank account fraud.

Drug Possession, Trespassing

On October 10, 2019, patrol units responded to 7 Godwin Avenue on a report of an unwanted party who was located in the basement. Upon arrival patrol located a male party who had sleeping in the basement. Upon further investigation, a 34-year-old male from Ridgewood, N.J. was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Defiant Trespassing, and Possession of Weapon. The arrestee was processed and released with a pending court date.

A North Broad Street resident reported receiving threatening text messages through a phone app on October 8, 2019. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
Bank Account Fraud
A Goffle Road resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters on October 8, 2019 to report fraudulent activity on a personal bank account. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau and the bank are investigating the incident which occurred in Connecticut.
Fraudulent Credit Card Charges
A Mahwah, N.J. resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters on October 10, 2019 to report a theft and fraud. The victim reported while a patient at 223 North Van Dien Avenue, an unknown person removed a credit card and bank card from her personal property. The victim discovered fraudulent charges shortly thereafter. The victim has reported the incident to her credit card company and her bank who are investigating the incident.
Stalking
A Woodside Avenue resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters on October 12, 2019 to report a stalking incident. The victim reported an unknown person contacted him on a published phone line after an editorial of his was published in the Bergen Record. The victim reported the caller has different political beliefs and is concerned for his welfare but no threats have been made. The incident was documented at this time.
Stolen Street Signs
On October 13, 2019, patrol units responded to a report of individuals removing street signs at the intersection of North Irving Street and East Ridgewood Avenue. Upon arrival patrol began to check the area but were unable to locate the actors. Patrol did locate a second street sign missing from Overbrook Road and North Irving Street. Ridgewood Signal Department was notified of the incidents.
Harassing Texts, Emails
A Farview Street resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters on October 13, 2019 report harassment. The victim reported receiving harassing email and texts messages from a person who was met through a dating website. The victim reported she did not wish to sign a criminal complaint at this time.
Criminal Mischief Damage
A North Arlington, N.J. resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters on October 13, 2019 to report criminal mischief damage to a motor vehicle which occurred in the past. The victim reported an unknown person maliciously scratched the vehicle while it was parked in the Village of Ridgewood. The amount of damage is unknown at this time.
Phone Scam
A Godwin Avenue resident responded to Ridgewood Police headquarters on October 14, 2019 to report a fraud. The victim reported he received a phone call and was convinced to provide personal information to the actor who impersonated a federal agent. The victim reported he provided his social security number to the fraudulent caller. The victim was advised of the precautions to take after providing personal information.
