Starbucks Shoplifter, CVS Theft: Glen Rock Police Blotter

GLEN ROCK, NJ –Glen Rock police responded to 257 calls between Dec. 2 and 8, including two shoplifting incidents and an identity theft report.

12-2-2019

12:43 PM – A Hamilton Ave resident responded to headquarters to report identity theft. He stated that he was contacted by Citi Corp. Master Card regarding a $512.85 charge that he did not authorize. The account was closed, and the credit card company is investigating. The resident also stated that his Verizon account was compromised recently.

12-6-2019

12:51 PM – P.O. McGill and Sgt. Wojtecki responded to Starbucks on Rock Road on a report of a possible shoplifting. Employees believed that the male actor may have taken a Starbucks tumbler off the counter and removed it from the store by concealing it in his sweatshirt. The alleged actor returned to the store approximately an hour later and that’s when store employees contacted the police. Officers spoke to the alleged actor, who was located sitting in a truck in the parking lot. The actor denied removing anything from the store and no proceeds were found at the time. Store employees stated they will contact their corporate office and review security footage from their camera system. Patrol documented the incident and the alleged actor was released from the scene pending any further evidence that a theft occurred.

12-7-2019

10:37 AM – While working a security detail, P.O. Surdyka was flagged down by an anonymous passerby who stated she believed she may have witnessed a shoplifting at the CVS located on Rock Rd. The witness stated that two male actors came out of a bathroom in the store and appeared to be putting items into a bag. Both males then exited CVS and headed toward Boulevard. Sgt. Wojtecki spotted two males matching the description given by the witness. P.O. Pyatak spoke to store employees who knew nothing about a shoplifting. Employees stated that they would check the CVS camera system and contact the police department if they come across any proof of the alleged theft. The two males were identified by Sgt. Wojtecki and were released pending any further proof that a theft did in fact occur.
