This Week in Patch: Council Meets, Schools Off
Oodles of things to do with the kids while they're off this week.

Kids may be off this week but that doesn't mean there's nothing to do. Check out a look at what's upcoming this week in the village as well as here at Patch.
With President’s Day having arrived, village government, schools and services will be closed, including the library.
The boys varsity basketball team however doesn’t get a day off and at 7 p.m. they’ll take on Fair Lawn at home.

The Board of Adjustment is meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Predictably, the meeting agenda has not been posted.
Village students in grades K-3 should stop by at The Stable for the Abrakadoodle Fun Camp on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 to 12 p.m. Tickets are $100.

(if you're ages 2-6, that is) on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the library and do it again on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
Village sanitation collection returns on the West Side and Recycle Area 5 on Tuesday.
The girls swimmers are in the state semis in West Windsor at 3:30 p.m. last week.
Wednesday:
The Recreation Department will be putting on a puppet show for kids at the Anne Zusy Youth Center in Village Hall at 11 a.m. Tickets are $5.
The Village Council will be meeting for its regularly scheduled work session at 7:30 p.m. in Village Hall.
See the classic film The Karate Kid at the library at 2 p.m. for a matinee movie special.
Hang out with instructor Nick Sunday in the library and turn ordinary paper into decorative art. The class is at 2 p.m.
The Ridgewood Cooperative Nursery is , this one at the movie theater on E. Ridgewood Ave at 10 a.m. for the kids. Toy Story 3 will be shown and kids can enjoy the movie with unlimited popcorn and soda for $8.
Thursday:
The library’s Great Discussions Club will be meeting to discuss banks, governments and debt crises at 12:30 p.m.
Expert Joseph D’Angeli will present an educational experience for Village youth with live bats and a verbal lecture to explain the vital role these endangered nocturnal creatures play in nature. The program put on by the Rec Department and Women Gardners of Ridgewood will be for Grades K-2 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and grades 3-5 from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Cost of admission is $5.
English In Action: Culture, Manners & Idioms for ESL students will be continuing on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. through 2:30 p.m. It's $30 for villagers and $60 for all outsiders.
The varsity girls basketball team will be playing top team IHA at 7 p.m. at the Blue Eagles' home floor.
The Weekend
There will be concerts, musical performances at Blend, discussions of bullying, and more. As usual, we'll give you a more advanced look later in the week.
On our side, we'll be reviewing an underrated Asian restaurant in the village, updating on the library's "no-business allowed in public" policy, recapping the council meeting, and bringing goodie bags of what to do over the weekend, where to go and a look at real estate.
