'Tips From Town' Website Expanding From Ridgewood Into Other Communities

Ridgewood’s Tips From Town, a one-stop lifestyle website for a town, has expanded to Summit, N.J. as well as Rockville Centre and New Hyde Park, N.Y. Launched in late January, Tips From Town quickly found an audience. Further expansion is planned in the near future both on the East Coast and in California.

Tips From Town is the vision of Ridgewood resident Dr. Karen Latimer, family physician and mother of five children. The site offers a fresh, concise look at a town and its surrounding area with information on events, restaurants, movie times, school news, activity sign-ups, recycling schedules, and much more. In addition to the local color, experienced editors provide a wealth of useful and entertaining features on home design, fitness, food, family, fashion and fun on a weekly basis.

Each morning, Tips From Town highlights the top headlines on local, regional, national and global levels, linking to key news outlets such as the Patch. The site also recently launched a forum page, designed to get its readers into the conversation.

"There is an accomplished and untapped workforce in this country -- women who want to stay close to their children. We are harnessing some of this wisdom and energy by finding curators in different towns to provide the unique spirit of their area for Tips From Town," said Dr. Latimer, President of Tips From Town as well as the creator of YesFive, a medical/lifestyle advice site widely-known as the “feel better blog.”

Editors of Tips From Town are Emily Doscher, Tammy Juco, Amy Nidds, Erin Pruitt, Ellen Seaver, and Karin Stephan, all of whom are Ridgewood moms. Nidds also serves as the Director of Content.
