The Ridgewood Fire Department extinguished a car fire in the driveway of a Hanks Avenue residence Saturday morning, police said. When police arrived on the scene just before 10 a.m., an officer reported seeing smoke and flames coming out from under the hood of a Toyota Camry while its owner attempted to fight the fire with a garden hose, Lt. William Amoruso said. The fire department eventually extinguished the smoky blaze, but were unavailable for comment on the cause or circumstances of the fire.
