RIDGEWOOD, NJ — As much as 2 inches of rain could fall in Bergen County throughout Thursday, forecasters say.

The Hazardous Weather Outlook from the National Weather Service says, "Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches can be expected, with localized higher amounts possible. Flooding will be primarily limited to minor urban and poor drainage flooding.

"There is a low probability of seeing more significant flooding. Easterly winds are expected to gusts 30 to 40 mph on Thursday, with some higher gusts possible on Friday."

The storm is expected to end before Halloween afternoon.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Melissa was expected to veer away from the Northeast after drenching Jamaica. "Deadly hazards remain including downed power lines," said the National Hurricane Center on Wednesday. Track Melissa here.
