Tree Hits Power Line, Which Falls On Car In Bergen County: Police
A freak accident caused a power outage in one Bergen County town last week. Here are photos.
GLEN ROCK, NJ — A tree that fell in Glen Rock on Thursday morning led to a chain of events including a power outage, police said.
Police said that around 10:17 a.m., their officers were dispatched to Cornwall Road in the area of Griswold Place on a report of a vehicle struck by a tree and power lines.
Police found that a large shade tree fell, pulling down "both primary and secondary electrical power lines," they said.

As the lines fell, one of the lines hit a moving car. However, the car was able to be driven safely from the scene, police said.
A witness, photographer Boyd Loving, said the high voltage power line smashed into the woman's windshield as she was driven, but was luckily unharmed.

The downed power lines resulted in a power outage for the neighborhood for several hours, and the street was closed for much of the day.
PSE&G Electric Division crews worked to restore the damaged wires and. equipment, police said.
The road was reopened at 8:24 p.m.
The Glen Rock police handled 326 calls for service from last Saturday through this past Sunday, they noted.
Could more outages be on the way? The National Weather Service predicts that more than an inch of rain could fall in Bergen County from Wednesday night into Thursday, although no watches or warnings have been issued yet for the area. See the forecast here.
