UPDATE: Two Lanes to Close in Overnight Rt. 17 Work

NJDOT widens scope of lane closures.

Road night work on Route 17 southbound will continue for an additional day and expand into another lane.

According to NJ Department of Transportation documents, the highway will close two lanes and a shoulder from milemarker 19.62 to 17 Thursday and Friday nights from Saddler River through Ridgewood. If necessary, the extreme left lane for Route 17 northbound could also be closed.

Initially, the drainage and curb repair project only required one lane southbound and the shoulder to be shut down from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thursday. The revised plans, which went into effect Wednesday night, include the one to two additional closings and added night.

The northbound lane would be closed if the contractor, Tilcon NY, needs to repair drainage under the dividing wall, as the sides are interconnected.

During the day, the shoulder will remain closed during from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., as originally planned.
