Village Reports Dozens of Road Signs Missing

Officials are asking residents to notify police of missing signs after 75 disappeared in the last month.

Dozens of road signs have gone missing from Ridgewood streets in the last month, Acting Village Manager Heather Mailander reported at the council’s Sept. 11 meeting.

A “high rate of theft” has led to the disappearance of about 75 signs, she said, causing potential safety hazards from missing road alerts in addition to the cost of installing replacements.

Residents are asked to report signs that are missing or have been removed from their posts by calling the Ridgewood Police Department at 201-652-3900.
