Washington Twp. Foodtown Being Rebranded As The Fresh Grocer
Changes are coming to four Foodtown supermarkets in New Jersey.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ - Foodtown in Washington Township will soon undergo changes as the local supermarket is being rebranded as The Fresh Grocer.
Starting in February, the Maniaci family and its Nicholas Markets company will transition its four Foodtown supermarkets in New Jersey to The Fresh Grocer brand. The stores that will be rebranded are in Colonia (Feb. 14), North Haledon (Feb. 28), Cedar Grove (March 6) and Washington Township (Feb. 21).
“My customers know they get a top-notch, specialty grocery shopping experience at our stores, and we will continue to provide all the things our customers know and love while adding new and exciting features as we rebrand to The Fresh Grocer,” David Maniaci, current president and CEO of Nicholas Markets, said.

“This is the exciting next chapter in my family’s 77-year history in the grocery business. I want to thank shoppers for their ongoing support as we complete our rebranding efforts and make the change to The Fresh Grocer," he added.
Last October, the Maniaci family announced it had joined retailer-owned cooperative Wakefern Food Corp., a move that made Nicholas Markets the 51st member of the Keasbey-based supermarket cooperative.

Nicholas Markets is a family-owned specialty supermarket that was founded in 1943, when Rocco Maniaci and his son Nicholas opened a small grocery store in North Haledon. The Fresh Grocer joined Wakefern in 2013 and by Spring 2020, 12 family-owned The Fresh Grocer stores will be operating in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
According to a press release announcing the rebranding, customers can expect all the favorite parts of their store to remain while new products and features are added with the new name. Stores will "will continue to offer restaurant-quality take home meals with best in market pricing, and a wide variety of high quality fresh foods at low prices."
Customers will also notice new advertising circulars with special deals for The Fresh Grocer stores, and Instacart, the on-demand and online grocery delivery service, will also be available to customers.
Starting Feb. 1, shoppers can sign up for Fresh Grocer Price Plus Club card by visiting any of the four Nicholas Markets locations. Customers will also notice new advertising circulars this month with special deals for the new The Fresh Grocer stores.
