Wednesday: New Yorkers Taking Plunge into Freezing Water for Young Ridgewood Cancer Survivor
Nyack, NY is hosting the Penguin Plunge, where participants raise money to help pay medical bills for seriously ill children like one Ridgewood resident.

1) People are gearing up to jump into freezing cold water in Nyack, NY for the Penguin Plunge on March 6. Some of the money will go to help with medical bills for Haley Tyrrell, a 12-year-old from Ridgewood who had her left leg removed after the discovery of a cancerous tumor. Tyrell wears a prosthetic leg.
The organizers of the Penguin Plunge told The Journal News they've donated over $50,000 to help local children with serious illnesses.
2) There will be a Super Science Saturday workshop on Wednesday afternoon from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Stay tuned to hear more about a very nifty solar engineering project some RHS students are doing in conjunction with Stevens Institute of Technology.

3) Cheryl Burke, a twice Emmy-nominated choreographer from Dancing with the Stars will be at Bookends to sign her book at 7:00 p.m.
4) The varsity hockey team will try to defeat Tenafly once and for all at 5:30 p.m. The hockey team tied Tenafly last time out, though it was a heavy favorite.
