Weeklong East Ridgewood Avenue Paving Starts Tonight
Village says Maple to Broad will be closed through Friday.
Starting tonight, East Ridgewood Avenue will be closed through the central business district for road resurfacing.
From Maple Avenue to Broad Street, the village's main thoroughfare will be closed to car traffic through Friday from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. daily, according to engineering official Thomas Rica. Signs on parking meters and an electric road sign informed visitors to park elsewhere during the work.
Although a 12-hour window is cited, Rica said work will mostly occur from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.

The project—undertaken by contractor Tilcon New York Inc.—follows utility work completed by PSE&G last month to replace a gas main on the street.
At the June 9 Village Council meeting, Village Manager Dr. Kenneth Gabbert discussed the long-planned project and said work would occur at night. The previous project required direct access with business owners, so a portion of work occurred during the day—backing up traffic.

Rica said previously the village wanted the resurfacing to occur prior to the 100th Fourth of July Parade in Ridgewood.
