Trucker Stabbed And Shot At Woman In Bergen County, Then Fled: Prosecutors
A trucker from Jersey City is wanted for attempted murder after stabbing a woman in Bergen County, prosecutors said.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Investigators are seeking a Jersey City truck driver who they say stabbed a woman in a car in Bergen County last week and fled.
Yusef E. Muhammad, 33, of Jersey City is being sought after the woman was stabbed in a car in Hasbrouck Heights on Monday, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Prosecutors said that just before 9:30 p.m. that day, Hackensack University Medical Center told the local police that a stabbing victim had been brought in and was in critical condition.

Police talked to staff, who were treating the 33-year-old woman for stab wounds. She underwent emergency surgery and survived, prosecutors said.
A preliminary investigation determined that Muhammad, an acquaintance, had stabbed her several times in the torso while in a parked vehicle in Hasbrouck Heights, a few minutes' drive from the hospital.

Detectives determined that the man also had fired a handgun at the victim before stabbing her, but she wasn't struck by bullets.
Muhammad drove away in the vehicle, which belonged to the woman, prosecutors said. It was later found on Duffield Avenue in Jersey City.
The suspect was charged last Tuesday with first-degree attempted murder and weapons charges.
Still A Fugitive
Prosecutors said their attempts to find Muhammad have been unsuccessful so far.
They said he had been employed as a long-haul truck driver, "an occupation that can involve lengthy road trips operating a tractor-trailer with a sleeping cab."
