Yum Yum Cafe Shuts Its Doors

After about eight months brewing coffee, making crepes, sandwiches and shakes, will be closing its doors for good on Monday, Feb. 21 the owners confirmed on Sunday.

Owners Claudio and Jillian Whang expressed disappointment that they'll be shuttering doors, telling Patch they had wonderful, loyal customers but just weren't able to get enough foot traffic at the location.

"We met a lot of very nice people, we wish we could have had a little more exposure and people would have given us more of a chance but that's business," Claudio said.

"Nine out of ten places fail. It was something we forsaw...things happen, we just have to move on."

Claudio, with a background in accounting and wife Jillianne, a designer by trade, took over the small 17 N. Broad Street cafe after in early 2010.

Claudio will be returning to the accounting/finance industry while Jillianne will be putting her designing portfolio back together as well as caring for their young son, the couple reported.

The business had been up for sale for months but there were no takers.

The landlord, , also owns other commercial property in the village, notably 50 E. Ridgewood Ave, which holds the and , as well as the shopping plaza with the liquor store on 83 Godwin Ave.

The closing follows a brutal January in which Natalie's Latino Bistro, The Epiphany Cafe and Manina Delight .
