Dear Friend with a Warm Heart

Katherine Fitzgerald (nee Carroll), 80, of Sloatsburg, NY, formerly of River Edge, died peacefully on September 27, 2011.

Katherine was born in Washington, D.C. where she worked at the U.S. Treasury Department. In 1961 she moved to River Edge, and later moved to Sloatsburg, NY to live with her daughter, Joanne and her family. 

She was the beloved mother of Katherine Van der Mey and her late husband Peter of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ and Fort Myers, FL, Joanne Mulligan and her husband Dennis of Sloatsburg, NY, Susan McCarthy and her husband Tom of West Haven, CT, and Donna Slaughter and her husband Dave of Mahwah, NJ. She was a devoted grandmother and loved dearly by her grandchildren Katie, Dennis, Emily, Mary, Alex, Jack and Tommy. She was a dear friend to many and her warm heart will be remembered by all her who knew her.

Katherine was a woman of strong faith. She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Church in River Edge, NJ and St. Joan of Arc in Sloatsburg, NY.
