Former Councilman and Rec Commissioner

Arthur S. O'Keefe, 78, of Emerson, formerly of River Edge, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012.

Arthur was a parishioner and lecture at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. church. Art was past Grand Knight of the Knightsof- Columbus, Msgr. Burke Council. Art was a graduate of Manhattan College and enjoyed a long and successful career as a sales executive for IBM.

Arthur was active in the community serving as Councilman and Recreation Commissioner in River Edge. He loved sports and coached youth baseball and football. He enjoyed playing softball for the K of C and playing golf with his good friends. 

Above all else Arthur loved to spend time and travel with his wife Barbara. They visited all across the US and in Europe. They loved to go to movies and plays and playing cards with friends. 

Beloved husband of the late Barbara (nee Salerno). Loving father of Patricia Elgarhi and her husband Ahmed of Bloomingdale, Kevin and his wife Patricia of W. Wardsboro, VT, Theresa O’Keefe of Ramsey, Jeremiah and his wife Stacy of Downers Grove, IL and Maureen Kuenzler and her husband Keith of Ridgewood.

Adored grandfather of Amanda, Adam, Brendan, Kevin, Connor, Devyn, Robert, Kieran and Bryn. Dear brother of Walter O’Keefe and his wife Joyce, Kathryn Cole and her husband Jack. Arthur is predeceased by his sister Helen Tracy. Brother-in-law of Francine Maclin and her husband Thomas, Carolyn Villamil and her husband Gregory, and William Tracy. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
