Former River Edge Teacher and Principal

John L. Ranone, 71, of Jackson Twp., passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA.

Mr. Ranone was born in Manhattan, NY, resided in River Edge before settling in Jackson Twp. eleven years ago. 

John was a Principal for the Ridgefield Park Board of Education for twenty years, retiring in 1999. In addition, Mr. Ranone taught at Felician College, JCC Therapeutic Nursery in Tenafly and as a teacher and principal in River Edge.

Mr. Ranone received his BA degree in Education from Jersey City State and his MA in Supervision in Education from Monmouth University, West Long Branch.

John was a former communicant of St. Peters Roman Catholic Church in River Edge and a current communicant of St. Monica’s Roman Catholic Church in Jackson Twp.

He was a member of the Italian-American Club at Westlake in Jackson Twp., the Who’s Who in Education and the New Jersey Principal Supervisors Association. 

Mr. Ranone was predeceased by his parents, Michael N. and Josephine C. Ranone. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Ranone; his daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle Ranone-Houston and Glenn Houston of Fair Lawn, and Maggie Nelson and Craig Nelson of Ramsey, and by his grandchildren, Derek, Mikayla and Max.
