William L. Jervis, passed away peacefully on Monday February 13, 2012 at the age of 90.
Bill was a 44 year resident of Oradell, presently living in Waldwick, New Jersey for the past 15 years. He grew up in New York City, New York and upon graduation from high school entered the United States Marine Corps., where he served for six years during WWII in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters.
During his tour in the North Atlantic he was assigned to the Asiatic Fleet aboard the USS Idaho BB42. He was a member of the Oradell American Legion Post # 41, New Milford Gooney Bird Detachment # 434 and the VFW in Waldwick.

Bill was an insurance agent for the Unity Mutual Life Insurance Company for 66 years. He had served on the Oradell Police Reserves from 1954 to 1982, and was Captain for 15 of those 28 years. In 1983 he was appointed a Special Patrolman and continued to serve with the Oradell Police Department in that capacity until 2004.
In 1983, Bill and his wife Adele were chosen as the Oradell Citizens of the Year and were Grand Marshals of the Oradell 4th of July parade.

He was predeceased by his son David and survived by his loving wife Adele of 63 years. Devoted father of Bill Jervis and his wife Janet, Janet Villano and her husband George and Donald Jervis and his wife Krista. Dear brother of Audrey Pricher. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer, LeighAnn, Jessica, Lynda, Bradley Erin, Sarah, Renn and Laura. Great Grandfather of Victoria, Olivia, Joseph and Thomas.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Villa Marie Claire in Saddle River, NJ.
