Robert O. Ackerman, 84, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, formerly of Oradell and River Edge, passed away Friday, January 20, 2012.
He was a graduate of Hackensack High School and attended Michigan State University. Robert was a veteran of World War II, served 40 years in the Borough of Haworth Police Department and eight years as Chief.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Elaine (VonWiegen); brother, Alfred and Carolyn of AZ; sister, Ellen of New York; his sisters-in-law, Kathy and Noel of New Mexico, Mary of Grand Rapids, Vicki and Ed of FL; six nephews, six nieces and many great-nephews and nieces.
