Police Charge 2 In Connection With Local Burglaries

One victim was home when one of the suspects entered their apartment, police said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Two people were charged in connection with local burglaries, police announced.

James Taylor and Tammy Harrell-Brayboy, both 50, both of Carteret, were arrested Monday, said Maywood police Chief Joseph Natale.

Maywood police received a report on April 13 about an apartment burglary that occurred. While police were investigating, police got a report of a burglary in progress, Natale said.

The victim was home in their apartment when someone entered, Natale said.

Detective William Phayre investigated the burglaries and with the help of Detective Sgt. Dennis Cappello developed a sketch of the suspect, Natale said.

Phayre viewed local surveillance footage and developed a lead on the getaway vehicle that was used in the burglaries, Natale said.

Taylor was charged with two counts each of burglary, theft, and criminal mischief. He was lodged in the Bergen County Jail.

Taylor was also charged with burglary and theft in connection with a cold case burglary from October 2015, the chief said.

Taylor is also a person of interest in other area apartment burglaries that previously occurred in Maywood.

Harrell-Brayboy was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit burglary. She was released from Maywood Police Headquarters.
