Campout, Crabcake BLT, Sidewalk Sale
It's what's going on in the Rumson-Fair Haven area Friday.

Yes, it's Friday, R-FH area friends and fans. And that means it's the start of some oxymoronic busy R&R times.
There's a lot going on this weekend. Well, enough to keep you going for the good times to talk about on Monday ... I think. Well, maybe.
That all starts with some good weather, if the weather troll doesn't have a tantrum, that is. Today, according to the troll, uh, I mean National Weather Service, it going to be partly sunny with high temperatures near 79.
Saturday it's supposed to be sunny with temps reaching about 81. Sounds good. And, here he goes … that troll messing things up with a supposed 50 percent chance of run and scattered showers and thunderstorms. That's 50 percent, weather troll!
OK, deep breath, it's mostly good, right? Maybe the weather troll will accept a bribe. Hmmm.
Well, here's what's going on to start the weekend …
Activities …
Oh boy, oh boy. Fair Haven munchkins are going camping at Fair Haven Fields tonight! Rec Director Charlie Hoffmann says make sure to bring essentials like, well, camping stuff and bug spray and spooky stories. OK, I threw that one in.

Foodie fun …
Recommendation of the day: Treat yourself to lunch at Navoo Grill Club and try the Crabcake BLT. Great crabcakes with much more crab than filler together with the BLT part and spicy mayo and avocado.
It's $5 Friday at the Cheese Cave on Monmouth Street in Red Bank. It involves some mingling and nibbling. Sounds cheesy and fabulous, right?
Don't forget the brunch specials at Barnacle Bill's. It's a classic weekend rite of passage around here. Or a burger by the river is always great.
There are loads of happy hour specials and other deals next door in Red Bank, too, so check the Red Bank Flavour site for the scoop on the deals.
Coming up …
We'll be finishing up the week with that feature on a nostalgic eatery, giving the latest scoop on those 70s reunions and imparting a message from Rumson police. Then, look for our column of weekend happenings all over Monmouth County and weekly wraps.
Oh, and someone puhhhlease give us a caption for the photo of the day at the top of this column. Come on! It could be funny and you really don't want me to do it.
And, of course, I'll be around the towns with the app and the camera. So, see you around the towns!
