Greet Spring With Waterspirit At Its Equinox Celebration In Rumson

Waterspirit will hold an in-person/virtual program to mark the spring equinox on Monday evening in Rumson - and rain sticks are welcome.

RUMSON, NJ —Waterspirit will mark the new season with a celebration of the spring equinox at a program Monday, March 20, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The eco-spiritual organization, with musical guest Andreea Fegan, will celebrate the arrival of spring and all that entails, including a reflection on the rebirth of nature and new life, Waterspirit says.

The community is invited to attend the program in person or virtually. Bring a rain stick to add the sound of rain to the event, if you have one. Register for the event here.

The program is at 4 E. River Road at the First Presbyterian Church of Rumson, and will be live streamed on Waterspirit's YouTube channel.

Since its founding in 1998, Waterspirit has been brought together religion and ecology. It's eco-spiritual programs "encourage personal transformations that lead to long-term, regenerative environmental activism," the organization says.

Blair Nelsen, Waterspirit executive director and the United Nations NGO representative for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, under whose auspices Waterspirit was formed, will also participate in an event Tuesday in New York City to mark World Water Day.

On the afternoon of March 21, the eve of World Water Day and the opening of the United Nation’s Water Conference, a ceremony will take place at the Angel of the Waters Fountain in Central Park.

The ceremony will celebrate the tangible and intangible value and enduring significance of water-related cultural heritage globally.
