Howling Good 'Dog Days of Summer' Time

Dog Days of Summer will be held on the last Tuesday of each month through Halloween.

Red Bank has officially gone to the dogs. Tuesday night was proof — the borough's inaugural Dog Days of Summer.

With a portion of Monmouth Street closed off, four-legged furry friends strolled with their masters, made new friends and just hung out. Some even grabbed a bite to eat. Some scanned under the tables for scraps. And one pup was so tuckered out, he turned in for the night early, snuggling up in a chair and snoozing on the street.

Mayor Pat Menna was there with his loyal companion Bella. And, with the way the dogs seemed to flock around him, one might even mistake him for St. Pasquale of Assisi.

"This is nice, isn't it?" said the mayor while getting Bella a sip of water. "Perfect night for it and everyone seems to be having a wonderful time."
