Night Out, RFH Reunion This Week

It's what's going on in the Rumson-Fair Haven area this week.

Well, happy Monday, R-FH area friends and fans!

It's nice out and the weather troll is promises it will be a pretty decent day — sunny with a high near 77 degrees. OK, there will be a little rain this week, but the temperatures will be mild, unless the toll is lying again.

Here's the tide table for Sea Bright today going into tomorrow — a feature we've added to our daily update:

Who went to see the Fair Haven Concert on the Dock with the Red Lights performing? Talented kids. And they seem to have quite the fan base already. If you missed it, take a look at our photo gallery.

Last week, we took a look at some Sea Bright businesses rebuilding with a little update on who's reopened, who's not and who's new. We also took a look back at elementary school in Fair Haven in preparation for the RFH Class of '78 reunion starting Friday. Oh, and there are more goodies in that bag o' retro tricks for later this week.

People were in a tizzy over Oprah hosting a dinner for Corey Booker.

There were a couple of luxury car thefts that had people waking up to cars missing right from their driveways. Police think the thefts are tied to a larger ring, so, folks, they're asking: Would ya make sure you take your keys out of the car and lock up at night?!

And, another police reminder: Slow the heck down. What's the hurry, really? Most of these streets are residential. So, police have asked people to just keep in mind how you'd feel if your kids were out playing and someone came barreling down the street, perhaps putting a kid chasing a ball at serious risk. They say that sometimes the ones who do the most complaining about speeding in their own neighborhoods, ironically, tend to be the ones who speed elsewhere.

Speaking of police, don't forget that Tuesday night is Fair Haven Night Out at 5 p.m. at the Youth Center (or Fair Haven Community Center). Click on the story on the site for more information. Patch will be there to take some pics! Who will get dunked in the dunk tank?

The Fair Haven Firemen's Fair is coming up at the end of the month. Have you signed up to volunteer? Get on it! There's one booth that promises to serve as a sort of meet and greet for teachers. More on that soon.

Some building improvements have taken hold at RFH. Check them out in our story coming up.

There are no municipal meetings this week, so stay tuned for more features and updates. And, really, ya never know!

We'll be out and about this week. So, if you think of anything we may have missed, let us know.

In the meantime, see you around the towns … or at the dunk tank … glub, glub, glub …
