Share Your Jim Buckley Memories, Guess the R-FH Grad

Your daily stop to find out what's up in the area.

By Elaine Van Develde

Looks like we're in for some stormy weather today, R-FH area friends and fans.

And there's more that we're thinking you probably should know about. So, we've made you a little list. In fact, we'll be doing that every day from now on.

The weather …

According to the National Weather Service, after the rain kicked in Monday afternoon, it will continue through Tuesday night. We're likely in for some thunderstorms in the afternoon, too, along with the possibility of heavy rain. Temperatures will peak at about 85 degrees, with winds from 6 to 9 miles per hour. After midnight it's supposed to clear.

Oh, the Rumson meeting …

Oops. We were counting on a Rumson Borough Council meeting tonight, but forgot that the reason why there was no agenda posted is because there is NO meeting. That's right. We forgot that summer meeting schedules have kicked in, bringing board of education and council meetings down to one meeting a month from the usual two.

Activities …

If you're looking for something to do, try the Kidz Art Summer Camp at the Junior League Headquarters in Rumson. Click here for more information and a phone number.

Tuesday meal deals …

A lot of specials on Tuesdays in the area. Fromagerie has its burger night, Woody's has its Baja Night, offering tacos or sliders with an orange crush or glass of wine for $15, and there are some specials at restaurants in Red Bank, too. Click here and check out Flavour's list.

People …

We somehow missed the death of Jim Buckley, longtime Fair Havenite with a very notable past in the community. Jim's obituary is included on the site today and we apologize for inadvertently missing it.

We'd like to add some nice things to his obituary, so please either comment on it or send us your comments at elaine.develde@patch.com and we'll be happy to include them. Thank you for your service to the community for so very long and condolences to Jim's family and friends.

Coming up …

OK, who hasn't paid up yet for the RFH Class of '78 reunion? Mike Grady's after people to fork it over. We'll fill you in on that one a little later. It's happening very soon … 35 years! Na, really?

Someone told us that he's arranging for a toilet papering prank of sorts on those who don't show. Hmmmm.

Stay tuned for more news and intrigue in the area … You'll get a hint today about Rumson Police Chief Scott Paterson's little secret, too.

Oh, and we'll be doing this every day, too ... We will feature a photo on this little column and ask you to give it a caption. Each photo will have something to do with something mentioned here.

Today, someone in this photo is from the RFH Class of '78. Now, what the heck is he up to and what's the caption?

We may also be using some retro pics soon, too. In the meantime, see you around the towns ...
