1 Person Dead, Another Injured After Early Morning Fire In Fanwood

Firefighters responded at around 1:30 a.m. Friday to the Fanwood residence.

FANWOOD, NJ - One person is dead and another was taken to the hospital after a fire at a home in Fanwood early Friday morning.

The Fanwood Fire Department says they responded to a report of a fire with at least one person still inside a building on Kempshall Terrace at around 1:30 a.m. Along with help from the Scotch Plains Fire Department, firefighters arrived on the scene within four minutes of the initial call.

One person was found dead on scene, and another neighbor who tried to enter and help before the arrival of firefighters was taken to the hospital with burn injuries.

No fire officials were injured. A cause for the flames is yet to be determined.
