23-Year-Old Killed After Being Hit By Truck In Union County: Police
A Hillside resident was hit by a truck Tuesday morning and was pronounced dead. Police are still investigating the incident.
UNION COUNTY, NJ — A 23-year-old Hillside man was killed in the street Tuesday morning after he was hit by a truck, Hillside Police Chief Vincent Ricciardi announced this afternoon.
Ricciardi said the man was hit in front of 11 Vine Street in Hillside at around 10:45 a.m. A preliminary investigation suggests he was hit by a truck.
The accident was not a hit-and-run, according to Ricciardi. He said it appears the truck driver was unaware of the incident.

Police have identified the driver who is cooperating with the investigation, Ricciardi said.
Update: Police identified the victim as Derek J. Scott, 23, of Hillside.

The victim's identity is being withheld until his family is notified. A full investigation being conducted by the Hillside Police Traffic Division is ongoing.
