Reconstruction Project At Park In Fanwood Begins Monday
The park is more than 25 years old, and home to various outdoor recreational facilities.

FANWOOD, NJ - The La Grande tennis courts reconstruction project is set to get underway on Monday, Aug. 25 if weather permits with updates to both its appearance and safety features in the works.
Funded through a grant by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, the courts and walkways will be resurfaced along with new nets and fencing. Benches and nearby dual garbage and recycling receptacles will also be installed.
Patch has reached out to both the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and the Borough of Fanwood for details on the grant, and how much the total cost of the project is estimated to reach , and is yet to hear back.

The project is estimated to take 40 days to complete, with the courts now closed until the beginning of October.
Mayor Colleen Mahr, along with the Fanwood Recreation Commission and Borough Council, are continuing to mark "the next generation of LaGrande Park." The tennis courts project is the second major enhancement to the more than 25-year-old park in just the last two years. In February 2023, a new playground was installed that includes additional space, brand new swings, slides, climbing structures and other attractions such as for those with special needs.

La Grande Park is located at 170 La Grande Avenue and has two baseball fields, five tennis courts, a basketball court, recreation building and pavailion. Both recreation buildings in La Grande and nearby Forest Road Park are available to be rented out by individuals and organizations.
