Man Dead, Others Hurt After Car Crashes Into Pole In Union County

The man died at the hospital from his injuries.

FANWOOD, NJ — A man is dead and multiple others were injured after a car hit a utility pole on Nov. 4, Fanwood Police said.

At around 10 a.m., authorities responded to Forest Road Park for a report of a car crash. Officers found multiple people who were hurt and a pole that was knocked down.

Union County EMS, paramedics, and members of the Fanwood Fire Department all responded to the scene to aid with medical assistance.

Patients were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, Overlook Hospital in Summit, and University Hospital in Newark.

Ralph Benedict died at University Hospital from his injuries in the crash.

The crash is under further review by the Fanwood Police Department with help from the Union County Prosecutor's Office and the Union County Police Department.
