Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Ride Runs Through Union County Sunday

A cavalcade of motorcycles will travel through Central Jersey on Sunday for the Rolling Thunder Ride for Freedom.

The event, sponsored by Rolling Thunder Inc. New Jersey Chapter 2, the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation and Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, will be held from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The ride begins at Warinanco Park in Roselle and ends at the NJ Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial in Holmdel, with wreath-laying ceremonies and guest speakers.

Hundreds of riders generally participate in the event.

It honors veterans who were prisoners of war and are missing in action, according to NJ.com.

The route begins on St. Georges Avenue, then continues to Route 35 South, through Woodbridge, Perth Amboy, Sayreville and Old Bridge, where the group will then travel onto Laurence Parkway, and then onto Garden State Parkway, from Exit 120 to Exit 116 in Holmdel, according to NJ.com.

The cost is $5 per person. That fee covers expenses and a donation to the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation &
 Vietnam Era Educational Center, according to a notice about the event.
