Scotch Plains-Fanwood Kindergarten, Grade 1 Registration Open
Children who will be 5 years old on or before Oct. 1 are eligible to register for kindergarten for the 2023-24 school year.
SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD, NJ — The Scotch Plains-Fanwood School District is now accepting registrations for kindergarten and first grade for the 2023-24 school year.
Children who will turn 5 years old on or before Oct. 1 and are residents of Scotch Plains or Fanwood are eligible for kindergarten. Residents who will be six years old on or before Oct. 1 are eligible to enroll in first grade, the district said.
Registration is required for children if they have not yet attended the school district, officials said. Those new to the district must complete the Online PreRegistration Procedure, Medical Packet and, with an Access ID and password, follow the PowerSchool Parent Portal Registration Instructions for Families.

The following items need to be brought to an in-person appointment:
- Original birth certificate with raised seal
- Completed Certification of Residency with supporting documentation
- Universal Child Health Record completed by the child's physician
- Completed Record of Immunization Completed by a physician
All kindergarten-age children, both returning and new students, should be registered by April 28.

Parents of children currently enrolled in the district’s preschool program must complete the online Letter of Intent by Feb 22 via PowerSchool. In-person registration is not required, but updated immunization records must be submitted via PowerSchool.
