Scotch Plains Native Commits to Notre Dame Fighting Irish Basketball
A Seton Hall Prep basketball player is heading to South Bend, Indiana after committing to Notre Dame.

A West Orange basketball player recently committed to playing college basketball with defending ACC Champion Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Temple Gibbs Jr., of Scotch Plains who plays basketball at Seton Hall Prep in West Orange, committed to Notre Dame on Sunday night, May 3, marking the Fighting Irish’s first commit in the 2016 class, according to NBC Sports.
Rivals.com, a website focused mainly on college football and basketball recruiting, first reported Gibbs’ commitment to Notre Dame, with Gibbs also announcing the news on social media soon after.

The 6-foot-3-inch guard received interest from numerous colleges and universities around the country, including Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Oklahoma, St. John’s and Virginia, according to Gibbs’ ESPN profile.
Gibbs has two older brothers who have played college basketball at the Division I level. According to NJ.com, he averaged 19.9 points, four rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.7 steals per game for Seton Hall Prep during his junior year this past season.
