Thanksgiving Car Crash In Scotch Plains Ends In DUI Charge: Police

The drunk driver crashed into a home in Scotch Plains on Thanksgiving Day, police said. The driver did not sustain any injuries.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — A man driving under the influence crashed into a home in Scotch Plains on Thanksgiving Day, according to a police report.

The accident occurred on the intersection of Lamberts Mill Road and West Broad Street on Thursday, Nov. 24, police said.

Upon arrival, police found a 2022 Jeep wrangler with heavy damage, which had struck a house on West Broad Street. The Scotch Plains Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The driver was not injured during the course of the investigation and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence, police said.

While on the scene, the man said he was having difficulty breathing and was rushed to Overlook Medical Center, according to police.

Police said the vehicle involved in the accident was towed from the scene. The house sustained damage from the crash, but none of the occupants were injured.
