Happy Mother’s Day From Sabrina Lopez
"She is truly an inspirational role model, and I'd be proud to be at least half the mom she is."

In celebration of Mother's Day on Sunday May 13, we asked Patch readers to write a letter to their mother and let us deliver it. This is Sabrina Lopez's letter to her mom:
I have the most amazing and selfless mom. Her name is Nancy Brown, and she raised my sister and myself alone. Being an extremely young mother made things even harder. However, she always made sure my sister and I had everything we needed. She never missed any of our games, events or graduations. She's always been a very strict, but supportive mother.
The main reason I'm writing this is because I have a crazy work schedule, and two years ago I asked my mom to take my daughter to a doctors appointment for me since she wasn't feeling well. It seemed like a simple cold that she would need an antibiotic for. My mom was very forward with the doctor on giving my daughter a test since she wanted to rule out any infections, and the doctor listened to her.
My mother requesting an additional test at that visit ended up saving my daughter's life. It turned out that both of my daughter's kidneys were in failure, and she ended up having a kidney transplant.
Thank God for my mom, because my daughter is alive and doing well today! She's had some complications after her transplant and has fought through it all with my mom by all of our sides the entire time.
My mom has not only been there for my sister, my daughter and my niece and nephew, but our entire family. She is truly an inspirational role model for mothers, and I'd be proud to be at least half the mom she is. We love her so much.
