Secaucus Police Blotter, May 6 - May 12

Two men were arrested after a physical fight broke out on the Buchmuller Park basketball courts May 8.

SECAUCUS, NJ — Released by Secaucus Police, all of last week's arrests:

On May 7 at 3:01 a.m., Secaucus Police responded to UPS located at 493 County Avenue on a report of a physical altercation. Police arrested a 27-year-old male, Kevin Martinez of Newark, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Toms River, NJ in the amount of $1,000. Mr. Martinez was also charged with Simple Assault [2C:12-1A(1)]. Toms River did release Mr. Martinez on his own recognizance pending a future court date. Mr. Martinez was issued his complaint summons and was released from police custody.

On May 7 at 7:32 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to Paterson Plank Road and Harmon Meadow Boulevard on a report of a motor vehicle crash. During the investigation, police arrested a 59-year-old male, Kenneth Werner of Paramus, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. Werner was issued his motor vehicle summons for Driving While Intoxicated along with 1 additional motor vehicle summons and he was released into the custody of a responsible adult.

On May 7 at 11:40 p.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 22-year-old male, Jeyson Arias-Perez of Union City, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Union City, NJ in the amount of $750.00 and 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Guttenberg, NJ in the amount of $550.00. Mr. Arias-Perez was unable to post bail and he was subsequently transported to the Union City Police Department.

On May 8 at 3:59 a.m., Secaucus Police observed a motor vehicle strike a light pole at the parking deck of 45 Meadowlands Parkway. Police arrested a 30-year-old female, Darya Dzirsha of Secaucus, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50]. Ms. Dzirsha was issued her motor vehicle summons for Driving While Intoxicated along with an additional seven motor vehicle summonses and she was released into the custody of a responsible adult.

On May 8 at 7:17 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to the parking lot of Buchmuller Park for a report of a motor vehicle parked in a handicap space without a placard. Police arrested a 26-year-old male, Justin Perez of Newark, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Kearny, NJ in the amount of $600 along with 1 outstanding warrant issued out of East Newark, NJ in the amount of $500. Perez was released on his own recognizance in relation to the outstanding warrant issued out of East Newark, NJ. Perez was able to post bail for the involved warrant issued out of Kearny, NJ. Perez was issued two motor vehicle summonses and he was released from police custody.

On May 8 at 8:53 p.m., a Secaucus police officer who was on a bicycle patrol observed two individuals engaged in a physical fight on the basketball court at Buchmuller Park. Police arrested a 20-year-old male, Jose Baez-Corchado of Newark, NJ along with a 19-year-old male, Joseph Tormey of Secaucus, NJ for Simple Assault [2C:12-1A(1)]. Both Mr. Baez-Corchado along with Mr. Tormey were issued their complaint summonses and were released from police custody.

On May 9 at 12:12 a.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 38-year-old male, Franklin Simmons of Paterson, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Paterson, NJ in the amount of $600.00 with a 10% option along with 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Paterson, NJ in the amount of $500.00. Mr. Simmons was released on his own recognizance in relation to the warrant issued out of Paterson, NJ in the amount of $500.00. Mr. Simmons was able to post bail for the outstanding warrant issued out of Paterson, NJ in the amount of $600.00 10%. He was issued two motor vehicle summonses and he was released from police custody.

On May 10 at 9:00 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to the La Quinta Inn for a report of a trespassing where an individual was refusing to leave. Police arrested a 45-year-old female, Mary Wesby of Virginia Beach, VA for Defiant Trespassing [2C:18-3B]. Ms. Wesby was also found to have 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Atlantic City, NJ in the amount of $1,500 and 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Trenton, NJ in the amount of $250.00. Both Atlantic City PD and Trenton PD released Ms. Wesby on her own recognizance pending future court dates. Ms. Wesby was issued her complaint summons and was released from police custody.

On May 12 at 4:14 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to Kohl’s for a report of a shoplifting incident. Police arrested a 39-year-old female, Talia Danon of Wanaque, NJ for Shoplifting [2C:20-11B(2)], Possession of Drug Paraphernalia [2C:36-2] and Conspiracy to commit Shoplifting [2C:5-2A(1)]. Police also arrested a 46-year-old male, Brian Mcelfresh of Teterboro, NJ for Shoplifting [2C:20-11B(1)], Possession of CDS believed to be Heroin [2C:35 10A(1)] and Conspiracy to commit Shoplifting [2C:5-2A(1)]. Ms. Danon was also found to have 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Paterson, NJ in the amount of $750.00, 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Hawthorne, NJ in the amount of $1,000.00 and 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Fairlawn, NJ in the amount of $1,500.00. Mr. Mcelfresh was found to have 2 outstanding warrants issued out of Totowa, NJ in the amount of $1,750.00. Both Ms. Danon and Mr. Mcelfresh were issued their complaint warrants and were subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
