1 Dead, 6 Injured In Weekend Shootings, Stabbing In NJ

Two incidents were reported on the outskirts of a college campus in NJ.

NEW JERSEY — A spate of violent incidents in the Garden State over the weekend left one dead and six injured, authorities said.

Stabbing Near Rowan University

One of the incidents took place in Glassboro near Rowan University, according to police and the University.

At 12:10 a.m. on Saturday, the University sent out an alert to the community asking them to avoid Oakwood Avenue and Whitney Avenue, as police were investigating a stabbing incident.

According to police, they received a report of two subjects that had been stabbed. On arrival, police found two were stabbed during a physical altercation, and a third victim was also stabbed.

Officers and Investigators interviewed witnesses and a suspect was identified and taken into custody. Police said there was an altercation in the area of Oakwood Avenue where several people were assaulted and needed to be taken to area hospitals for treatment. The accused was arrested and lodged in the Salem County Jail, Glassboro Police said.

The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office is currently assisting with the investigation.

Sunday Shooting Near University

On Sunday, around 1:43 a.m., officers from Glassboro were called to the area of the 300 block of North Main Street for a report of shots fired.

While on scene they found that one person had been shot in the foot. He was taken to the hospital for medical treatment, police said.

Residents told police that they attempted to remove a person from their party and a physical altercation ensued outside. At some point during the altercation, an unknown man fired at least one round striking the victim in the foot, police said.

The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office responded to incident and are the lead agency on the investigation.

Man Killed In Friday Night Shooting In Camden

A man was killed and a woman injured in a Friday night shooting in Camden, authorities said.

Police were dispatched at about 8 p.m. for the shooting at the 2800 block of Hull Road, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

There, authorities found two people had been shot. Authorities identified the injured as Akeem Jenkins and a 32-year-old Camden woman. Both were taken to Cooper University Hospital, where Jenkins, 33, succumbed to his injuries, officials said. The Camden resident was pronounced dead at 8:41 p.m.

The woman has been released from the hospital.

14-Year-Old Shot In Paterson: Report

On Saturday afternoon, a teen was shot in Paterson, according to media reports.

The 14-year-old was shot around 4:30 p.m., near Halpine and North 2nd Street, reported News12. The teen was taken to St. Jopseph's University Medical Center and is expected to be okay.

1 Hospitalized In Trenton Shooting

One person was hospitalized after they were injured in a shooting in Trenton on Friday night, according to reports.

The City's shot spotter activation system picked up around 18 rounds fired in the area of 160 Oakland Avenue at 11:22 p.m., NJ.com reported.

A man was injured and taken to Regional Capital Health Hospital and was reported in stable condition.
