70-Year-Old Attacked By Rottweiler In South Brunswick, Recovering: PD

The man suffered a significant arm injury. Police have issued a summons to the owners of the dog.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A 70-year-old South Brunswick man was attacked by a large rottweiler on Tuesday and is currently recovering, South Brunswick Police said.

Around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a 70-year-old man was walking to get his mail from the mailbox in front of his home on Ridge Road when he was attacked by the rottweiler. The dog had gotten loose from a neighbor’s home and then attacked the man, police said.

The man suffered a significant arm injury and was bleeding heavily, according to police.

Sgt. Michael Leung along with Monmouth Junction Deputy Fire Chief Sean Wert arrived and applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. The man was taken by South Brunswick EMS to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment.

South Brunswick Animal Control responded to the scene and issued a summons to the owners of the dog as well a notice requiring the dog to be quarantined.

The homeowners will have a future court date in South Brunswick Municipal Court to answer the charges, police said.
