NJ ANCHOR Team Will Visit South Brunswick Homes To Help With Property Tax Relief

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Armed with their official badges and documents, members from the state Department of Treasury will be knocking on residents’ doors in South Brunswick, Township Manager Bryan Bidlack told residents during the last council meeting.

The outreach team will be offering renters and homeowners information on how to apply for ANCHOR property tax benefits.

New Jersey recently passed the property tax affordability legislation and many residents may be eligible for significant relief.

Canvassers will go door-to-door and will provide information and help complete applications for those who need assistance filing for ANCHOR.

About 300 members of the ANCHOR Outreach Team will knock on doors in New Jersey.

Team members will be able to confirm eligibility for the ANCHOR property tax relief program for qualifying homeowners and renters, assist in filing applications, check benefit statuses, and answer commonly asked questions.

“We are excited to have boots on the ground across New Jersey to help spread the word about the ANCHOR program,” said State Treasurer Elizabeth Maher Muoio.

“About two million homeowners and renters may qualify for property tax relief, and we want to make sure every eligible resident applies for and receives their benefit.”

The team will knock on doors six days a week, Monday through Saturday, between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. through Nov. 20., Bidlack said.

How to identify the canvassers? The team will wear dark blue vests with yellow lettering identifying them as members of the ANCHOR Outreach Team, as well as yellow ID badges.

If a homeowner or renter cannot be reached at the time of canvassing, the team will leave officially authorized door hangers with ANCHOR information.
