Delayed School Opening, No Trash Collection In South Brunswick

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The South Brunswick School District will be operating on a two-hour delayed opening schedule on Thursday due to the inclement weather.
All before school programs and clubs have been canceled. Before School Childcare will begin at 9 a.m. Special education, non-public and magnet schools will follow the South Brunswick School District's 2-hour delay schedule. Bus pick-up times will also be delayed by two hours.
Meanwhile,. St.Augustine of Cantebury School will be closed on Thursday.

Due to the inclement weather, Republic Services has decided to cancel all trash and recycling collections for Thursday.

On Thursday morning, the winter weather has created some icy conditions. There have been no significant issues reported. Since 4 a.m. there have been two motor vehicle accidents. Drivers are asked to reduce speed and allow extra time for their morning commute.
Freezing rain and pockets of sleet are leading to crunchy/slick surfaces. Over the next few hours, pockets of mostly sleet can mix in over rain and cause accumulation to overtake any treatment, even make it a bit slushy, the Office of Emergency Management said.
This wintry mix becomes mostly, if not all rain before 9 or 10 a.m. Rain then tapers off midday with temperatures solidly above freezing.
Residents should watch for some icy spots from wet surfaces that dry early Friday morning. Another wintry system develops Saturday evening, which is a bit colder and will require more treatment and even some scraping
