SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The Middlesex County Mosquito Extermination Commission will be conducting mosquito control treatment in the township on Wednesday night.

The commission will be using trucks for spraying to control and reduce mosquitoes that can spread viruses like West Nile Virus, and minimize nuisance mosquitoes to tolerable levels.

In September, the New Jersey Department of Health (NJ DOH) reported three cases of the West Nile Virus in Middlesex County

Spraying will be done in the following areas:

  • Henderson Road, Black Horse Lane, and Deer Brook Blvd, from 6:30 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.

The commission will be spraying Etofenprox, applied from the ground by a truck using low-volume or ultra-low-volume techniques.

The chemicals used have been approved by the NJ Agricultural Experiment Station for the control of adult mosquitoes.

Although the chemicals are not harmful to humans, residents are advised to avoid any kind of exposure.

The County has advised residents not to leave pets outdoors during spraying and not to touch surfaces that are still wet from chemicals.
