SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

Track - hurdles and sprints

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

She is a former South Brunswick student. She was a GMC and state sectional champion in hurdles. She was an honor student. All this while, overcoming a learning disability. She now is pursuing her master's degree in special education at Rowan university. She has been captain of the team for four years. She has been a conference champion. She also has regional accolades as well as competing in the NCAA Division III championships finishing 13 and 10th in the county. She graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s in early childhood education. She has overcome her disability and is the model of what dedication, hard work and an excellent special education teacher and school program can and how it can make a difference in someone’s life.
